Diagnostic Tools and Intervention in Transplantation - Diagnostic Imaging
Dr. Nurhayati Mokhty
Damansara Specialist Hospital
Currently, any patient who has a chronic or acute organ disease that leads to inability to sustain a normal quality of life or that results in life-threatening complications should be considered a candidate for organ transplantation
The role of imaging is for both donor and recipient, prior to, during and post-transplantation.
The aim of pre-transplantation imaging is to look for complications of end stage organ disease, contraindications for transplantation and relevant donor anatomy.
During transplantation, intraoperative ultrasound can be used to detect patency of arterial anastomosis.
Imaging is used after transplantation to detect both early and late complications.
